Questions about Extract PDF Pages
How is this different from Split PDF?
Extract gathers scattered pages into one new document. Split cuts a document into several documents. Extract 1, 5 and 9 and you get a single three-page PDF; split the same pages and you get three files.
Is the original modified?
Never. Every tool here reads your file into memory and writes a new one; the file on disk is opened read-only.
Does the extraction keep links and annotations?
Annotations attached to the extracted pages are copied. Links that pointed to pages you did not extract are dropped, because a dangling destination makes some viewers throw an error.
Can I extract in a different order?
Yes. The output follows the order you typed, so
9, 1, 5 produces exactly that sequence.Do the extracted pages keep their original page numbers?
Physically they are renumbered 1..N in the new page tree. Numbers printed into the page content stay exactly as they were, so a page reading "42" at the foot still reads 42 even when it is now page 1. Use Add Page Numbers to PDF to restamp them.
Is there a limit on how many pages I can extract at once?
No fixed limit — extracting every page is allowed, and gives you a copy of the document. The real constraint is memory, because the source and the new file are both held in RAM. A very large scan can run out of room on a phone.
Is Extract PDF Pages really free, with no limits?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap, no file-size tier and no watermark, because there is no server cost to recover. The site is funded by clearly disclosed partner recommendations on the Partners page, never by metering the tools.
Are my files or text uploaded when I use Extract PDF Pages?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript running in your browser, on your device. You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool. You will see no request carrying your data — because there is nowhere for it to go.
