Final Grade Calculator
What you need on the final, and what it gets you.
Final Grade Calculator rearranges the weighted average to tell you the mark the final exam needs for a target overall grade, and works the other way for a given exam score. It shows the best and worst possible outcomes, handles letter scales, and says plainly when a target is unreachable. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions about Final Grade Calculator
What formula does it use?
The weighted mean, rearranged. The mark you need is the target, minus your current grade multiplied by the share of the course already graded, divided by the weight of the final. Working in the other direction it is the plain weighted average. The formula and every number that went into it are printed under the answer.
What happens when the answer comes out above 100?
It says the target is out of reach and tells you the highest grade still available, which is your current standing with a perfect exam score. That figure is more useful than an impossible one. Treat anything above about 95 as out of reach in practice too, however the arithmetic reads.
Does it work with letter grades?
Yes, on several scales including plus and minus letters, the UK degree classification and the Australian scale. A letter is a band rather than a number, so a target letter is read at the floor of its band, and a current letter produces a range: the exam mark you need at the bottom of your band and at the top. Ask for the actual percentage where you can.
What could make the answer wrong?
Two things, and neither is the arithmetic. A current grade shown on a course page is usually the average of what has been marked so far, not your standing in the whole course, so outstanding coursework skews it — tick the box and set the share actually graded. The other is the department's rules: rounding conventions, a cap on the exam mark, and hurdles that require a minimum on the paper regardless of the average.
Are my grades sent anywhere?
No. The calculation happens in your browser and the last figures you entered are kept in that browser's own storage so the page remembers them. Nothing is transmitted, there is no account, and clearing your site data removes the lot.
Is Final Grade Calculator really free, with no limits?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap, no file-size tier and no watermark, because there is no server cost to recover. The site is funded by clearly disclosed partner recommendations on the Partners page, never by metering the tools.
Are my files or text uploaded when I use Final Grade Calculator?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript running in your browser, on your device. You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool. You will see no request carrying your data — because there is nowhere for it to go.
