Questions about Hourly to Salary Converter
Why not just multiply by 2,080?
2,080 assumes 40 hours for 52 weeks with no unpaid time. It is a fine rule of thumb for US salaried work, but wrong for part-time, for contractors who take unpaid leave, and for countries where the standard week is 35 or 37.5 hours.
Is tax included?
No — these are gross figures. Net pay depends on your country, region, filing status, pension contributions and deductions, and no generic calculator can give you a trustworthy net number.
How should a contractor compare a rate to a salary?
Not one-to-one. A contract rate has to cover unpaid holiday, sick leave, pension, equipment, insurance and gaps between contracts. Use the unpaid-weeks field to model that, then add a margin.
How does overtime enter the calculation?
Enter the overtime hours per week and the multiplier — usually 1.5 or 2 — and those hours are paid at the higher rate before the totals are worked out. The overtime portion is listed separately, so you can see how much of the annual figure depends on that overtime continuing.
Does it work for a four-day week or a term-time contract?
Yes, through the hours-per-week and weeks-per-year fields. A term-time contract is often 39 or 44 paid weeks rather than 52, and setting that gives a very different annual figure from the usual multiplication.
Is Hourly to Salary Converter really free, with no limits?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap, no file-size tier and no watermark, because there is no server cost to recover. The site is funded by clearly disclosed partner recommendations on the Partners page, never by metering the tools.
