Watermark PDF

Stamp text or an image across every page.

Watermark PDF draws text such as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT — or an image like a company logo — over every page of your document. Control the opacity, rotation, size, colour and position, then save. The stamp is written into the PDF itself, entirely inside your browser.

Questions about Watermark PDF

Can the watermark be removed later?
By anyone with a PDF editor, yes. A watermark is a visual mark, not a security control — it deters casual reuse and labels a document, but it does not protect it. For access control, use Password Protect PDF.
Behind or in front of the content?
Both are available. Behind keeps text fully legible and looks more professional; in front is more assertive and harder to overlook. A translucent watermark in front at 15-25% opacity is the usual compromise.
Can I use a transparent PNG logo?
Yes. PNG alpha is preserved, so a logo with a transparent background does not get a white box around it.
Can I tile the watermark across the page?
Yes — the tiled mode repeats the text diagonally across the whole page, which is what most document-management systems produce.
Can I watermark a batch of PDFs at once?
No — one document at a time. If the same stamp has to go on a set of files, merge them with Merge PDF, watermark the merged document, then split it back apart. Otherwise each file is a separate open, stamp and save.
Does the watermark show up when the PDF is printed?
Yes. It is drawn into the page content rather than added as an annotation or a viewer overlay, so it prints exactly as it appears on screen. Low opacity is the thing to watch: a stamp that reads clearly on a bright display can come out very faint on paper.
Is Watermark PDF really free, with no limits?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap, no file-size tier and no watermark, because there is no server cost to recover. The site is funded by clearly disclosed partner recommendations on the Partners page, never by metering the tools.
Are my files or text uploaded when I use Watermark PDF?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript running in your browser, on your device. You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool. You will see no request carrying your data — because there is nowhere for it to go.
