Questions about Sign PDF
Is this a legally binding signature?
It produces an electronic signature — an image of your signature placed on the document. Under eIDAS and the US ESIGN Act that is often sufficient for ordinary agreements, but it is not a qualified digital signature backed by a certificate. For contracts that demand cryptographic non-repudiation, use a certificate-based service.
Can anyone tell the document was altered?
No cryptographic seal is added, so no. That is the trade-off of any image-based signature, including the ones most e-sign services apply visually.
Where does my drawn signature go?
Into the canvas in your browser, and then into your PDF. If you tick "Remember this signature", it is stored in your browser's local storage on this device only — never sent anywhere. You can clear it in one click.
Can I sign more than one place?
Yes. Place the same signature on as many pages and positions as you need, plus optional dated initials, before saving once.
Can I sign with a finger or a stylus on a tablet?
Yes, and it usually gives the best result. The drawing canvas takes touch and pen input, so an Apple Pencil or a finger on a tablet produces a more natural line than a mouse ever does. Set the page number, then click the spot on the page preview where the signature should sit.
Does the recipient need an account to open the signed file?
No. The output is an ordinary PDF with your signature drawn into the page — there is no portal, no link to click and no email trail. Send it however you normally send a file, and it opens in any reader.
Is Sign PDF really free, with no limits?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap, no file-size tier and no watermark, because there is no server cost to recover. The site is funded by clearly disclosed partner recommendations on the Partners page, never by metering the tools.
Are my files or text uploaded when I use Sign PDF?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript running in your browser, on your device. You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool. You will see no request carrying your data — because there is nowhere for it to go.
