Questions about Crop PDF

Is the cropped content deleted?
No. Cropping sets the /CropBox, which tells readers what part of the page to display. The content outside it still exists in the file and can be restored by resetting the crop box. If you need it truly gone, print to PDF after cropping.
Can I crop every page with the same rectangle?
Yes, and that is the usual case for a scanned book. There is also an auto-detect mode that finds the ink bounding box of each page and trims to it individually.
Will cropped pages print correctly?
Yes. Printers use the crop box, so the trimmed page is what comes out — usually scaled up to fill the paper.
Does cropping shrink the file?
Barely. The content is still there; only two numbers per page change.
Is cropping a way to hide sensitive information?
No, and this is the mistake worth avoiding. The data outside the crop box is still in the file — anyone who resets the box, or extracts the text, sees it. Cropping changes what is displayed, not what is stored. For genuine removal, delete the pages or print to PDF after cropping.
Is this useful for reading PDFs on an e-reader?
It is one of the main reasons people crop. Trimming the margins off a scanned book lets the text fill a six-inch screen, which is the difference between readable and not. Use auto-detect when the margins wander from page to page, and a fixed rectangle for a consistent scan.
Is Crop PDF really free, with no limits?
Yes. There is no account, no daily cap, no file-size tier and no watermark, because there is no server cost to recover. The site is funded by clearly disclosed partner recommendations on the Partners page, never by metering the tools.
Are my files or text uploaded when I use Crop PDF?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript running in your browser, on your device. You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool. You will see no request carrying your data — because there is nowhere for it to go.
