Does resizing blur the text?
No. Pages are embedded as Form XObjects and scaled with a transformation matrix, which is a vector operation. Text stays sharp at any size — this is not an image resize.
A4 to Letter: what actually happens?
A4 is taller and narrower than Letter. Scaling to fit leaves a small band at the top and bottom or the sides depending on the fit mode you pick; "centre without scaling" keeps the original size and just changes the paper around it.
Can I resize only some pages?
Yes, enter a page range. Pages outside it keep their current size, which is how you normalise a document with one odd A3 insert.
Does it change the aspect ratio?
Never automatically. Non-proportional stretching is available only as an explicit option, because it distorts everything on the page.
Which size should I use — A4 or Letter?
A4 (210 x 297 mm) is standard everywhere except North America, where Letter (216 x 279 mm) is. A document made for one prints on the other with a slightly different margin, which is usually fine. Resize when the margins matter — a bound report, a form with fixed positions, anything trimmed to size.
Does resizing change the file size?
Barely. Scaling is a transformation matrix rather than a re-encode, so the fonts and images inside are untouched and the file weighs roughly what it did. Use Compress PDF when the goal is a smaller file rather than different paper.
